An Energy Performance Certificate or EPC, shows the official energy rating of a property. As a home owner you will need one to sell your property.

The certificate provides you with a rating for the property, showing its energy efficiency and its enviromental impact on a scale from A to G (where A is most efficient and G the least efficient). It also contains recommended ways to improve the property's energy performance.

By 2009, all all buildings in the UK that are constructed, sold, or rented will have to have an Energy Performance Certificate.
